This is the Danish Cancer Society's international homepage. Here you can read about prevention of cancer and symptoms of cancer. You can also read and download our pamphlets and reports.
Pamphlet about symptoms of cancerEarly detection of cancer is vital. This pamphlet describes the most serious symptoms, but there can also be other signs of cancer. The earlier cancer is detected, the greater the chances it can be treated with a good outcome.
Bowel cancer screeningSurveys have shown that bowel cancer screening can reduce mortality of the disease with 15-30 percent among people over 50 years of age. Unfortunately today bowel cancer is discovered late by 60 percent of the patients, because symptoms appear late.
The Danish Healthcare SystemThis booklet gives you a brief introduction to the Danish healthcare system. It provides information about the places you can go to for examination and treatment if you fall ill. You can also read about the free preventative examinations you and your family can have e.g. vaccinations of children and screening for cancer. The booklet is written in collaboration with the National Board of Health - Sundhedsstyrelsen.
Preventing Cancer across CulturesA Nordic Conference about the prevention of cancer among ethnic minorities took place in January 2005 in Malmö, Sweden. There were about 60 participants, among these were doctors, health promoters and scientists. Some were of Nordic origin, some came from non-western countries. You can read the report here.
