Cell Stress and Survival

Cell Stress and Survival

The Cell Stress and Survival Unit is headed by Professor Francesco Cecconi. The main focuses for the unit are:

  • to unveil the fine molecular mechanisms governing autophagy and cellular responses to stress
  • to understand their role in the processes underlying cancer ontogenesis and progression
  • to exploit them for the development of new strategies in cancer treatment
  • to understand the involvement of redox changes and oxidative stress in cell transformation, cancer bioenergetics and resistance to therapy
