Late Effects Group

Late Effects Group is an organization of cancer survivors with late effects from cancer and its treatments.

Today a growing number of people are cured of cancer because of new therapies. But many experience so severe long term consequences from their treatment that it affects their everyday life.

The main goals of the Late Effects Group is to get these long term effects of cancer and its treatment acknowledged and to establish coordinated survivorship-plans for all concerned.

The Late Effects Group is also trying to:

  • spread information about late effects of cancer treatment through meetings offering information to patients and their families
  • set up a database of late effects of cancer treatment based on patients’ stories
  • promote research in late effects following cancer treatment
  • promote doctors’, nurses’ and other professionals’ knowledge and understanding of late effects following cancer treatment
  • influence and inform the society including the labour market so cancer patients with late effect are met with appropriate considerations
  • continue and further extend the political and medical foci on late effects following cancer treatment
